Hand building and carving techniques, clay mixing (variety of clay bodies, including paper clay and stone ware), slip casting, presses and ceramic dies and molds, extruders, slab rollers, clay mixers, kiln firings (raku, gas, salt), kiln maintenance and repair.
Metalworking
MIG, TIG, stick and Oxy-Acetylene welding, plasma cutting, rollers, breaks, shears, vertical and horizontal band saws, chop saw, both power and hand tools used in the fabrication, forge manipulation, manipulation and finishing of aluminum, bronze and steel.
Metal Casting
Modern and Primitive casting technologies, homemade furnaces and related equipment. Greensand, (homemade traditional and oil bonded) and ceramic shell including experimental processes, Styrofoam burnout, lost wax/classic investment, resin bonded sand, furnace construction and operation.
Media: aluminum, bronze, lead, pewter, and various alloys.
Mold Making
Two-part, multi-part, silicone, urethane rubber, and plaster, ceramic shell, rubber and plaster mold.
Media: plastics, resins/acrylic, concrete, plaster, wax, ice, dirt, chocolate and rammed earth.
Woodworking
Table/miter/band and radial arm saws, planers, jointers, oscillating spindle/disk and vertical sanders, drill press, lathe, grinders, lamination, carving, finishing, constructing with traditional hand tools, and palm sanders.
Media: Plywood manipulation/fabrication, steaming, planning – exotic and domestic hard woods
Alternative Materials and Techniques
Inflatables, carbon fiber, kiln annealed glass, stained glass, basic electrical technologies, tar, sewing, quilting, plastics, early culture tools and craft.
